Farewell, Space Shuttle!
July 7th, 2011 by Charles

Andy drew this cross-section of the Space Shuttle the other day. I don’t think he’s ever seen what’s inside an actual orbiter, but he has several of the basic concepts correct! The box on the side is the fuel tank, with red fuel that goes through tubes to the rocket engines. The grey things going into the fuel tank are tubes that carry air, to mix with the fuel. And that thing up at the top is the pilot at the “steering wheel.” The colorful dots are “all the buttons.” Not bad for a six-year old with no reference material!
